Installation began of the Mondo Turf product last Monday morning and progress has been steady since. Dodging a few raindrops has not been a problem for the crew as the stitching of two playing fields is nearly complete. The project remains on schedule with an expected completion date of July 13th. The familiar green playing surface with gold end zones is beginning to reappear. 
When complete, the field markings will be identical to the previous surface with but one striking difference. The stacked MU will have a reading orientation from the south as opposed to the north. When standing at the south end zone of the middle field, Field
No. 2, participants will have a spectacular view of the stacked MU, Tiger Plaza and Jesse Hall looming in the distance. The 1.5 million dollar project is entirely funded by student fee dollars made possible by long term planning and fiscal responsibility. A replacement fund was established shortly after the original Astroturf was installed in 1997.
